SERVING

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

We believe that God has equipped each of us for some form of ministry in the world - caring for the sick and those in need, serving one another with kindness and humility, building each other up, making music and creating beauty, teaching and inspiring others, and showing the love of Christ to all we meet.

We offer numerous ways for you to become more involved in our church, find your place, and discover new ways to serve our community and the world beyond. We invite you to consider the ways in which God may be calling you to serve.

Service and Volunteering FAQ

How do I volunteer in worship services?

Would you like to serve as an usher, greeter, or communion server throughout the year? Are you interested in being part of our audio/visual team? Would you like to be more involved in worship arts and creating visuals and altar displays for special services? Are you willing to be a worship leader or reader one Sunday?

Whether you can offer a creative perspective, technology skills, or simply a smiling face to those who gather on Sunday morning, there is a place for you to serve in worship. Please contact Rev. Jimmy Reader for more information.

How do I volunteer with young people?

Do you love to teach? Perhaps you'd like to be part of our children's Sunday School program or help plan the Christmas Pageant. Or, maybe you'd be interested in working with the youth or teaching a short-term adult class that would benefit and enrich our faith community. We'd love to hear your ideas! Please contact Leta Williams for more information.

How do I volunteer with music?

There are numerous musical ways to serve in the life of our church - opportunities for all ages and experience levels. From handbells to choirs to instrumental music to contemporary worship ensembles, there is a place for everyone! Please contact our Music and Worship Committee or Dot Borden for more details.

How do I volunteer in community missions?

We are always looking for volunteers to help with our community mission work. There are many ways to serve, from preparing meals for homeless families in the RAIHN program to volunteering with Flower City Work Camp, collecting clothing for Cameron Ministries to delivering food donations to our local food pantries, helping with our monthly pancake breakfasts (benefitting local charities) to taking special collections to benefit global mission work. See our Missions page for more details.

and much more...

In every church, there are many people doing behind-the-scenes work, giving their time, experience, and gifts to keep everything running smoothly, including:

  • Maintaining the building and property - repairing, gardening, cleaning
  • Giving leadership on boards and teams which oversee the many programs and activities of the church
  • Planning, preparing, and serving dinners and meals, receptions, and other events

To learn more and get involved,
please contact the church office.
